1.3 Released!

The game has finally received a day and night cycle, and with it comes brand new stuff. This update mainly fixes many bugs, and improves things players have found tedious when playing my game. Enjoy this new update!

1.3 Changelog

New Additions and Major Changes

  • Added the Day and Night cycle! At the moment, it does nothing, but eventually, it will do many things, such as change crop growth, and spawn new bugs to catch.
  • Added Coconuts! The fourth and potentially best fruit, as one tree has a chance to produce $14!
  • Added the Golden Sickle! As an upgrade to the regular sickle, this sickle can harvest up to 3 of the same crop, effectively multiplying profits.
    • The Golden Sickle also increases the snail chance from 1/50 to 1/40.
  • Every tool has been slightly retextured to fashion a brown stroke. This is for better visibility, and it looks MUCH cooler.
  • Snails now have a chance to appear when harvesting Cabbage.
  • The Dibbler, Pitchfork, Shovel, and Bug Net has been noticeably retextured.
  • The Bug Net's texture now changes depending on the speed it is moving.
  • Added +40 new watering can textures.
  • The Heavy Duty Shovel is now much smaller.
  • The Heavy Duty Shovel and Bug Net now make noise.
  • The main UI has been redesigned, featuring a background, and a clock to show the time.
  • Fertilizer has been completely recoded, fixing many issues with it. It also sparkles the land when used.

Small Changes

  • Clicking your money count will bring up your exact money amount.
  • You can now Right-Click the icons in the Items menu to sell only one of that crop.
  • Selling crops now brings up a notification telling you how much money you have received.
  • Harvesting a crop successfully now brings up a small ping showing how many crops were collected.
  • Cabbage and Tomatoes now pop out of the vine/ground when harvested, similarly to Turnips. (very satisfying)

Bug Changes

  • Fixed a bug involving the axe sound effect playing at the wrong times.
  • Fixed a bug where visitor time would go by ridiculously fast.
  • No longer can stack multiple bags on one another.
  • The sparkles when spawning an object is now centered on the spawned object.
  • Fixed the lag spike involving visitor spawning, which simplifies the visitor system as a whole backend.

In the future, I do have multiple things planned, such as a Kitchen where you can cook food using your crops, as well as crows that must be fended off.

I also want to release a multitude of new fruits next update, as I aim to add at least ONE new thing every update (this one being the Golden Sickle).

I personally can't wait for the pineapple. I also want to add some secrets to the game as well, even if they don't do anything remotely meaningful. Another thing that crossed my mind was achievements, that could reward the player with some kind of currency thats used to buy kitchen equipment, but that will come later.

Despite the rake being gone, I am actively seeking a replacement for it, so stay tuned for that. Thank you for reading this changelog, and I will continue to update Mouse Garden.

I have also begun development of a Mouse Garden spinoff, called "Mouse Dungeon", where the player drags around this big sword, defeating monsters, collecting coins, looting treasure, and slaying bosses. I want to release a prototype in July, and hopefully get a stable release out before August.

(Logo subject to change)

Good night everyone, and enjoy this new update for Mouse Garden! 🌼
